Step-by-Step Guide: Submitting Your Conference Abstract

Step 1️⃣ Find the Right Conference

  • Look up relevant conferences in your field (e.g., AZA, AAZK).
  • Make a list of:
    • Conference theme/topics, abstract submission deadlines, registration deadlines, submission requirements (word count, format, categories)
  • Pick the conference that best aligns with your work and goals.

 Step 2️⃣ Pick Your Topic

  • Choose a topic that fits the conference theme but also that excites you!
  • Ask yourself: Does this relate to the conference focus? How does my work contribute or fit in?

 Step 3️⃣ Choose Your Format

  • Poster: It’s a beginner-friendly way to share your work visually without needing to present in front of a big audience.
  • Oral Presentation: Ideal if you have previous presentation experience and want to share your findings in a talk.

💡 AWS Insider Tip: If this is your first conference, start with a poster—you can always work up to an oral presentation next time!

Step 4️⃣ Draft Your Abstract

  • Problem/Question: What are you exploring?
  • Method/Approach: How did you do it?
  • Key Findings/Insights: What did you learn?
  • Takeaway: Why does it matter?

Keep it clear, concise, and accessible. Pay attention to word or character limits.

Step 5️⃣ Revise & Get Feedback

  • Ask a colleague, mentor, or peer to review your abstract for clarity and impact.

 Step 6️⃣ Submit On Time

  • Double-check formatting, attachments, and spelling before submitting.
  • Celebrate! 🎉 You’ve officially applied.

💡 AWS Insider Tip:: Even small observations or preliminary studies can make a strong abstract. Focus on what others can learn from your work.
